We had a large family group stay here recently. It was perfect! Very comfortable, lovely linen; well equipped kitchen; great pool table. Katy was a wonderful host and no request was a problem. Highly recommend and we would definitely go back! - Belinda Gunson

I cannot recommend Naurea Homestead highly enough. Everything Katy and Barry offer on their Homepage is exactly as it is. Beautiful garden, warm natural hospitality, fabulous food. Both Katy & Barry go out of their way to make you feel like family.
And Katy, thank you so much for the jar of your yummy homemade Doris Plum Jam made from fruit from your amazing orchard. I'll be back if only for some of your Apricot jam this time! - Frances Hollis

I have been a part of a group of 12 people doing a 7 day bike ride organised by Cycle Gisborne. This is a unique ride, taking in the beautiful scenery New Zealand has to offer. I would rate this cycle trip up there with the Alps to Ocean. Our last night was spent at Naurea Homestead. Katy and Barry were amazing hosts. They welcome you into their home with open arms and went out of their way to make our stay special. The rooms are huge and very clean. The natural attractions in the area would make Naurea a great base to stay for a week. - Joy Marks

Where do I start?! Our small cycle tour company brings guests to ride around the East Cape and our final night is always at Naurea. We have the full dinner bed and breakfast experience and it never ever disappoints. The house itself is lovingly restored, BEYOND its former glory. It is spacious, comfortable and beautiful but not at all pretentious. Beds are super comfortable.
Katy and Barry are hosts supreme, attentive with excellent banter, available but not imposing in any way. Both are really easy to connect with for all our guests, and...they can cook!
I like it when someone takes special dietary requirements as a pleasing challenge rather than an inconvenience and then knock sthe food out of the park. Everytime. Ingredients are sourced as locally as possible and as locally as their own garden, which is rich with vegetables, avocado's and an array of fruit.
All of this and I have never seen either ruffled or stressed, they must have life in perfect balance - I leave feeling restored and so do my guests. - Stuart Edwards @ Green Jersey Tours

In October a group of 6 of us stayed at Naurea and had a wonderful time. The house is a divine piece of New Zealand history which it was a pleasure to share for one night. The rooms are large and spacious with beautiful bed linen and wonderful view. Katy and Barry are the ultimate hosts and great company. The three course dinner was superb, restaurant quality.
We cannot recommend highly enough, you will not be disappointed. -John and Liz

Eleven of us had a wonderful stay at Naurea in July 2022. The house is in a great location, with wonderful views of surrounding countryside but still handy to town, and convenient for vineyard visits. The spacious accommodation is enhanced with a wonderful atmosphere, comfortable beds and a lovely, warm fire. While we could all connect over meals that we’d prepared ourselves in the well-equipped kitchen, or to watch the rugby, there were plenty of spaces to spread out and we never felt on top of each other. The hosts, Katy and Barry, are very helpful and welcoming. Naurea is highly recommended and we’d have no hesitation in staying again. - Phillip & Co

I can’t even put into words how fantastic our stay was at Naurea. The house is stunning, with amazing views and really inviting comfy spaces. The pool is fantastic and so welcome after days on a bike. Beds were really comfy and in huge bedrooms! There is space to spread out and enjoy time with friends or a quiet moment on your own. But the absolute stand out are the hosts, Katy and Barry! Nothing was too much trouble, they are warm and accommodating and you should definitely take them up on the home cooked dinner! Everything was so good and I’m really looking forward to going back. If you think you have booked long enough, add another day! 5/5 - Shane Williamson

Just like visiting old friends! If you want a 'home away from home' place to stay when in Gisborne then look no further than Naurea Homestead. You couldn't really describe Katy and Barry as hosts, they treat you like family in a relaxed, informal and go with the flow fashion. No request is a problem and the attention to detail in providing for every aspect of your stay is outstanding. The Homestead itself is beautifully restored and simply stunning along with the gardens and grounds that show the care and pride that Katy and Barry take with everything they do. From breakfast to dinner the provisions are from the garden, paddock or locally sourced, and are simply delicious. The rooms are tastefully appointed in the style of the homestead and make you want to stay for weeks - not days. We cannot recommend Naurea to you more strongly for your visit to Gisborne (which is a short 10 minutes drive away) and the wider Poverty Bay region which has so much to see and do. Naurea is a soothing oasis to return to after a day exploring with a warm welcome awaiting from Katy and Barry. We had a fabulous stay and will be returning for more so you better book now to make sure you don't miss out! Debs & Tony.

This is the most beautiful home to have spent a night on our trip around the East Cape and Gisborne! Katy and Barry are incredible hosts that went above and beyond to really give us a night to remember. They were so accommodating to our needs and even went out of the way to find Gisborne's famous seafoods for us before we arrived.
Barry's pizzas are so good and he even took us on a tour of the fruit orchards - absolute highlight of our trip My only regret is that we should have stayed longer! We will surely visit again and stay for much longer on our next visit to that part of the country Thank you so much Katy and Barry for your generosity and kiwi hospitality! Sylvia & Co.

WOW!!! What a magic Homestead Naurea is from its very enormous size rooms to lovely generous meals & fabulous friendly host’s who go far beyond what is expected of a B&B.
Prime views overlooking Gisborne, absolutely stunning especially at sunrise & sunset for that great photo opportunity.
Location is perfect for it’s peacefulness & privacy, yet still close to Gisborne City, Airport, Beaches & Tourist Attractions.
Highly Recommend Naurea Homestead B&B AAAAA+++++
Definitely will be returning in the near future. Wendy.
